Grief Works.

This is a book for people dealing with grief of all kinds but does has some specific thoughts on the death of a child.

It was one of the first books I read on grief and really helped me to realise that I wasn;t going mad. There are accounts of different types of grief and some really relatable thoughts and frameworks to help make sense of how you are feeling.

I can’t recommend enough.

The Mother Box

I was sent this and found it so helpful, an incredibly thoughtful gift from someone I hardly knew and it meant a lot.

Filled with gentle products for mind, body and soul it also has a helpful book of poems and advice.

I took the aromatherapy roller with me everywhere.

They also do boxes for miscarriage and for those that get to take their babies home.

Griefcast.

Who would have thought that a podcast on grief cold be such a good listen?

Cariad Lloyd interviews (mostly) comedians about their stories of grief.

Episodes I recomend are:

Ep 19 – Lou Conran. Ep 39 – Sara Barron. Ep 87 – Jayson Greene. Ep 93 – Zoe Clarke-Coates.

Tommy’s

Another incredible charity doing great work. The real life stories really helped me at the start, a sense of not being alone.

A helpline, some great words of advice and plenty of support is on the website as well as facts and figures that you may find help to give you context if not comfort.

Sands

There is a huge amount of help and support available from Sands. Their website has sections for everyone affected by the death and some really practical advice on things like funerals and post mortems.

They also have a helpline, local support groups and do a lot of research into the cause of miscarriage, stillbirth and neo natal death.

The  Baby Loss Guide

Zoe Clark-Coates has published many books and is a great instagram account to follow too – @zoeadelle.

In this book there are practical exercises, real life stories and great words of advice for all kinds of child loss. From the very early days, to returning to work and much more, it is a book that you will return to again and again.

Rainbow Running & Yoga

Rainbow running & yoga club is a community of women who have experienced infertility and loss. Focusing on support through shared experience,  meet ups and events are beautifully planned and brilliantly executed.

I am no runner, but that is not an issue here, there is no expectation just understanding.

Instagram

Social media can be a blessing and a curse but here are some of my favuurite accounts that have helped me navigate life after loss.

Made By Mammas

This is a parenting podcast so not all episodes will help, but series 2, episode 8 is an interview with Caro Greenwood, @spikey, talking about the loss of her first baby and difficulties in her following pregnancies.

Well worth a listen for an emotional and relatable account of life after loss.
